Bowling Green Junior Woman's Club

What We Do

Major events each year for the Jr Woman’s Club include the Duncan Hines Festival, Hangover Classic, and Coats for Kids. In addition to these, we also have monthly service projects and social events. Our service projects support prevention of domestic violence, child abuse, hunger and poverty. They also promote education, conservation, and arts in our community. Below are club stats from 2012:

  • Participated in 84 projects
  • Volunteered over 3056 hours
  • Donated approximately $62,500 (cash and in-kind)

And further, during 2012, the Club gave more than $6,600 (excluding Duncan Hines Festival and Hangover Classic recipients) to over 24 worthy events and 19 different charities, including: Big Brothers Big Sisters, BRACAC, CASA, Crimestoppers, Family Enrichment Center, Hope Harbor, Kids on the Block, BRASS, USO, HOTEL Inc., Salvation Army, etc.

So far in 2013, we are joining in fun events like Bowl for Kid's Sake and the FEC Run & Walk for Children. We plan to give to more than 15 different charities. Those will include: Haven4Change, Ronald McDonald House, Community Action, Girl Scouts, Dream Factory, and Junior Achievement (in addition to some of those listed above).

Typical service projects include serving meals at Salvation Army, picking up garbage along major highways, collecting clothes for victims of domestic violence, building houses for Habitat for Humanity, and donating non-perishable foods to Red Cross, Salvation Army and United Way. This is just a small list of everything we do for the community and we are always open to new ways to help others.
